Welcome to QCSD's 1:1 Laptop Program
The Quakertown Community School District One to One / BYOD Information is designed to provide students with a learning environment that promotes "anytime, anywhere" learning. This year, all student will have the opportunity to bring in their own personal computer (laptop) for educational use throughout the school day in grades 6-12. Any student choosing not to bring their own personally-owned computer will have the option of borrowing a computer from the school district. The following options are available to students:
Option #1
Students may purchase a laptop computer independent of the school district for use during and after school hours. Students who select this option:
- May use the device for personal use after school hours.
- May install personally-owned software on the device.
- Assume responsibility for all technical support, repairs and general maintenance of the device.
- Must adhere to the QCSD Acceptable Use Policy
Minimum system requirements
2GB Memory (4GB recommended)
1024 x 768 screen resolution or above,
250 GB hard drive
Wireless network card
USB port
Operating system:
- Windows 8/10
- Mac OSX

Option #2
Students may borrow a district-owned laptop for use during and after school hours. Students who select this option:
- Must pay a $35.00 usage fee* each year to cover accidental damages that may occur while in the possession of the student.
- Any damages that occur to district-owned equipment due to the student's negligence may result in financial accountability on the part of the student (Click Here to view a sample list of incidents that will be covered by the usage fee).
- Lost or stolen equipment may result in prorated financial accountability.
- Must return the device to the district prior to leaving for summer break for routine maintenance and software updates. Students may pick up the device after reimaging is complete.
- May assume ownership of the device at the end of the student's senior year with the following conditions:
- Student has paid the annual usage fee for a total of four years ($140.00), or
- Student has paid the equivalent value of four years of usage fees ($140.00).
- May not install personally-owned software on the device.
- May not use the device for personal use.
- Must adhere to the QCSD Acceptable Use Policy.

Option #3
Students receiving free or reduced lunch services may borrow a district-owned laptop for use during and after school hours. Students who qualify for this option:
- Are exempt from paying the annual insurance fee.
- Any damages that occur to district-owned equipment due to the student's negligence may result in financial accountability on the part of the student (Click here to view a sample list of incidents that will be covered by the usage fee).
- Lost or stolen equipment may result in prorated financial accountability.
- Must return the device to the district prior to leaving for summer break for routine maintenance and software updates. Students may pick up the device after reimaging is complete.
- May assume ownership of the device at the end of the student's senior year with the following condition:
- Student has paid the equivalent value of four years of usage fees ($140.00).
- May not install personally-owned software on the device.
- May not use the device for personal use.
- Must adhere to the QCSD Acceptable Use Policy.
