Strayer, QCHS athletes and coaches to hear from sports psychologist about mental health and performance.

Dr. Jarrod Spencer, a sports psychologist and author, will be speaking to athletes and coaches from Quakertown Community High School and Strayer Middle School at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10 in the high school’s Performing Arts Center.
Dr. Spencer’s presentation will be targeted to athletes of middle and high school age, said Sylvia Kalazs, QCHS athletic director. He is being paid $2,500 for his presentation. The money is QCSD’s share for winning Sports Radio WIP’s Turkey Bowl contest.
“We’re using the money in a way that will benefit all of our athletes and coaches,” Ms. Kalazs said.
During his presentation, Dr. Spencer will be teaching:
- How the mind of an athlete works best
- Skills to improve your mental health and performance
- Ways to better manage phones, sleep and anxiety
Dr. Spencer is president and founder of Mind of the Athlete, LLC, a sports psychology company committed to improving the emotional health of athletes.
He is the author of Mind of the Athlete: Clearer Mind, Better Performance and the co-author of the book The Sky Is NOT The Limit: Discovering the True North for Your Life's Path. He is the creator of the Mind of the Athlete Program, a cutting edge 10-hour video and audio sports psychology curriculum.
Dr. Spencer serves as the sports psychologist for several professional teams and individual professionals athletes. As an athlete, he was an all-state wrestler ay Phillipsburg (NJ) High School and a running back on the Lafayette College football team.
He is a trusted leading authority on the mind of today’s athlete.
