Tanner Sheridan and Lauren Fruck gave out gift bags for more than 100 residents of the Phoebe Richland Nursing Center.
Strayer Middle School students Tanner Sheridan and Lauren Fruck collected donations and put together gift bags for more than 100 residents of the Phoebe Richland Nursing Center.
The eighth-graders, members of the National Junior Honor Society, accumulated a wide array of needed items for the residents who will be unable to see family members this holiday season. The items included body wash, lotion, candy, colored pencils, large print word search books and pocket tissues. They also gave out bingo prizes and other fun items for the residents including a fire stick and Echo Dot.
The students used social media to have family, friends and neighbors donate these gifts. They also requested contributions on morning announcements at school.
“It made me feel so good to give back to a place that has taken care of my Nana, Gramps, Grandma and now my Pop Pop,” Tanner said.
