Quakertown’s Indoor Color Guard is in the midst of an “amazing” season.
The team, with 10 members from Quakertown Community High School and two from Strayer Middle School, has continued to compete successfully while being promoted to take on more challenging competition.
“These kids are an amazing bunch of kids and I couldn't be any prouder of their accomplishments from this season,” said Indoor Color Guard Director Beth Colella.
The Panthers started the season in a basic Intermediate class called Scholastic Regional AA. Within three competitions they were promoted two classes within a two-week period to Scholastic AA, an advanced Intermediate class in the Mid-Atlantic Indoor Network Circuit.
“Being promoted two classes within a two-week period is very hard to do,” Mrs. Colella said.
The Panthers finished first in competitions at Spring-Ford, North Penn, Marple-Newtown high schools. They took second at Council Rock South and Hatboro-Horsham.
They will be performing at Boyertown Area High School Saturday, March 26 at 4 p.m. and continue their season on April 2 at Upper Dublin and April 9 at Central Bucks East. They also can be seen at their “Send off to Champs Night” on Friday, April 22 at 8:30 p.m. in the Strayer gymnasium and at the QMPO Spaghetti Dinner, April 23, at QCHS. Championships are scheduled for the PPL Center in Allentown on April 24
Students going into grades eight through 12 who are interested in joining Color Guard, may attend their final practice on Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Strayer gym.
The team is made up of Kylee Weizig (Captain), Ava Geiser (Captain), Charlotte Dean, Grace Lanyon, Carissa Gurganus, Willa Marrow, Jaclyn Spearing, Holly Saugling, Nicole Stack, Kendal Detwiler, McKenna Milkowich, and Madilyn Weiss.
