Many things to be thankful for

Many things to be thankful for

Greetings Quakertown community!

As we close in on Thanksgiving Day tomorrow, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your support in what has been a nine-month rollercoaster ride. In these unusual and often difficult times, Thanksgiving 2020 will look so much different than those in prior years - where everyone traveled near and far to be together with family and friends. Let us take joy in our blessings and the belief that the future will be brighter.  Telephone and Zoom calls will have to suffice for many of us, including me.  It will be the first Thanksgiving I will not be with at least one of my children.

Despite the onslaught of COVID-19, the Board of School Directors, the Administration, teachers, support staff, employees, parents, businesses, and community members have pulled together for one primary mission and purpose, the education of your children, our students.  Preparing them for life after graduation is our ultimate goal, and my personal passion. I am thankful for the dedication of all stakeholders to meeting the challenges of our mission under these difficult circumstances.

To keep schools open and running, especially the past few weeks, has not been easy. Many of you have expressed your concerns during our struggles. I’m gratified that we have come together despite these differences and the challenges this pandemic has presented us. When it comes to the instruction of young people and their health and safety, I’ve found that everyone’s heart is in the right place and has the same objective.

As you make decisions about travel over the holiday break, I wanted you to know that the Governor modified his travel Order, effective today.  Please take the time to review it if your family plans take you out of state, and let your school nurse know.

Last Thursday and Friday, our high school teachers and students put on a wonderful online play. The student performances in “Much Ado About Nothing,” were amazing. Shout outs to director Mr. Kane and assistant director Mrs. Kelly for going on with the show!  We expect to have their next performance on stage in the spring.  Tomorrow at Alumni Field, our Panthers will take on Pennridge, a worthy opponent, in a tradition like no other - the 91st annual Turkey Bowl. Please click here to watch the game. Kickoff is at 10:15 a.m.  Go Quakertown Panthers!

On Tuesday, I look forward to having everyone back in school.

Happy Thanksgiving!  Stay safe!
