Though the Class of 2021 officially graduated on June 18th, awards and recognition continue flowing in for several recent Quakertown Community High School grads.

Matthew Catalano, Michael Dennis and Abby Jacobes were recently honored for their achievements.

Michael, recognized as a Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in its prestigious program for 2021, recently learned he will be receiving between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study. He will be attending Liberty University, and plans to become a teacher.

Matt placed eighth in the Future Business Leaders of America national competition for Economics. He will be attending Villanova University, where he is one of only 25 incoming students to receive the Presidential Scholarship. The QCHS FBLA club is advised by Sandi Frisch.

Abby, winner of the Pennsylvania State SkillsUSA Welding Sculpture Competition, was awarded a bronze medal in the National Championships. She participated in the Cooperative Education program at Upper Bucks County Technical School, which led to her full-time employment as a Welder at Klover Contracting.

"The recognition these students continue to receive have been achieved because of their hard work and dedication,” Principal Mattias van’t Hoenderdaal said. “They have accepted the challenge of rigorous coursework, and are fine examples for our students to follow. I applaud them and our teachers for helping prepare them for these extraordinary accomplishments.”
